“Scoliosis AI” is a student scoliosis patient-led organization aiming to bring convenient early detection to every household around the world with the use of mobile app, AI capabilities and community support.
What is scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine. Globally, about 3% of teenagers has idiopathic (unknown cause) scoliosis and not everyone detects it early due to the inconvenience of taking X-ray or a lack of early detection equipment and programs (especially during covid). Since the best time for correction is before end of puberty, so early detection is key. With early detection, many lives would be changed for the better.
Our Solution
Easy and Convenient, Anytime and Anywhere
To make early detection of Scoliosis accessible and free of specialized hardware equipment, we aim at building a "ScoliosisAI" mobile app with three major components: 1) AI scoliosis detection using camera to take photo of student's back in a safe and anonymous manner; 2) Scoliometer for measuring spine angle using the gyroscope and accelerometer sensors of the smartphone; and 3) information and community sharing on early detection, diagnosis and treatment.

Our "ScoliosisAI" mobile app will enable every teenager to perform simple initial screening test with both AI detection and scoliometer in a convenient and easy manner at home or at school. Those teenagers with potential risks of scoliosis will be prompted by the app to perform further check with specialists.
